Treating Transmission Troubles

No car owner wants to hear that the problem the car is having is in the transmission. Transmissions are one of the most expensive parts that a car owner might have to replace – if the car is old enough, it sometimes makes more sense to replace the car entirely than to replace the transmission. But I’ve found that there are ways to save when you need transmission work! Not only are there ways to save money on a new or rebuilt transmission, there are also ways to locate transmission problems and have them fixed before they become too serious. This blog is designed to help you take better care of your transmission, and avoid paying too much for transmission repairs.

Waiting For The Tow Truck To Arrive? Here's Something To Pass The Time

Automotive Blog

Breaking down on the side of the road isn't fun for anyone. Regardless of whether you have a flat tire or your engine went kaput, you want to make sure you are safe and sound while waiting for the towing company to arrive. Not sure what you can do in the meantime? Here are a few things you can do to help pass the time while waiting for your tow truck driver to show up.

Place safety cones around your vehicle.

If you find yourself stranded on the side of the road, you want to make sure that others know you are broken down and waiting on help to arrive. The last thing you want is for someone to crash into you because they didn't see you there. Put your hazard lights on and place cones around the vehicle to alert others to your position. If possible, put a reflector in front of your vehicle, on the side of the vehicle closest to the road and in the back of the vehicle. This lets people know that your vehicle is stranded before they end up running into you along the way.

Get all of your personal effects together.

Once you have marked off the area around your vehicle and you know you are safe, spend some time going through your vehicle and gathering all of the items together that you want to take with you when the driver arrives. By gathering all of the items together in the meantime, you can get the driver on his way far quicker than what it might be if they had to wait for you to get everything you need out of the vehicle.

Call a friend or family member for a ride.

While this might seem obvious, many people don't think about what they are going to do to get home until after their vehicle is on the way to the repair shop. Some tow truck drivers might be willing to give you a ride home, but that often isn't the case. If you happen to live in a town away from family, you might want to get on the phone with taxi services or other ride services to make sure you aren't left standing on the side of the road.

In doing the things listed above, you can make sure you and your vehicle are safe and secure and out of harm's way.
